FAQs
We focus on providing you with Christian resources that address your current needs. This list of FAQs is just one of these resources. If you do not find the answer to your question here, contact us and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
- Q: I am trying to find the locations of Crossroads Career meetings.
- A: You can search by member churches, as well as search by event. Simply select ‘Locations‘ from the top navigation menu. You can either select the state from the drop-down menu on that page to search for member churches. Or you can search by event by clicking on the Find a Career Event link on the right-hand side. Note: Find a Career Event is also found on the bottom of every page.
- Q: What kind of support will I get if I start Crossroads Career ministry in my church?
- A: First of all, we’re always improving our website to make life as a ministry leader as easy as possible. We are able to respond quickly (within one business day) to requests and issues that come to us through email and are available by phone call for more urgent requests.
- Q: What does a church membership include?
- A: Access to all ministry leader tools and resources. This includes the ability to offer career and job-related tools to any career explorer or job seeker (these include all the links, articles, tools, Career Workbook and our Crossroads Career job board).
- Q: Can I start a Crossroads Career ministry outside a church?
- A: Our principal focus is on linking Crossroads Career ministries to the life of a local church, but there will always be exceptions. If you feel that your non-church based ministry would be a good fit for the spirit and intent of the Crossroads Career Network, please contact us and we will determine the best approach.
- Q: I know of several churches who want to work together on career ministry. Can we join together?
- A: We ask each church to pay for its membership separately. However, contact us if you have several churches interested in joining together, because we are open to structuring price breaks for groups.
- Q: Why do I have to have a church’s “registration key”?
- A: We so strongly believe that a search for calling and career is best in the context of a church or strong support network. So we want to do everything we can to encourage career explorers and job seekers to connect with a local church or other Crossroads ministry to get access to the content on the portal.
- Q: How do I print the Career Workbook?
- A: Anything you can download from this site, you can print on any printer. All you need is the Adobe Acrobat Reader, which you can download for free. You can also make copies for others within your church’s Crossroads ministry, as long as the material retains the copyright notice and you do not sell it or use it outside the context of a Crossroads ministry. We realize it requires time and money to print all these documents. But the alternative is for Crossroads Career Services to be in the business of printing and mailing — which would mean we can’t grow to serve other churches. In other words, letting you do the printing — as much as you need — is what enables us to offer the material for a low annual fee.
- Q: What if people don’t have access to the Internet?
- A: In these cases, you will have more printing to do as a ministry leader. Contact us if you have suggestions on how we can support you.
- Q: What if I’m nowhere near a member church?
- A: If you can’t connect to a member church, you can still register under a personal membership in the Crossroads Career Network. Register as an Explorer (link) and then enter the word ‘explorer’ in the registration key area.
- Q: What if our church already has a career ministry?
- A: Then you’re ahead of the game! The most difficult step is often to get started.
You should think of Crossroads Career Network is a rich resource to supplement what you already do. Even if you have a ministry, you can provide career explorers and job seekers with access to our portal, job board and job seeker course resources. You’ll have access to the whole network of Crossroads Career ministries too. All that is included, and valuable — no matter what you call your ministry or what you already offer. - Q: I’m looking for a job. How do I view and apply for the jobs posted on the job board?
- A: When you are logged in to the Explorer’s section of the site, select Job Board from the menu. You should get a page giving you options to narrow your search by church, location or type of job. Otherwise, search all job listings from the ‘Search Jobs’ section on the home page. Upon viewing the search results, just click on any posting that interests you and apply for the job.
- Q: How do I know whether I just need to find a new position versus find a new career?
- A: Of course, that’s always a complicated question. The simplest answer is that it always makes sense to start at the beginning. Upon completing the attitude, aptitude and altitude exercise in the Career Workbook, you will have a much better clarity about whether you need to make a big change (a new career), refine your position in the same career, or be open to learning that you’re right where you should be!
- Q: Is there a cost to attend a local network meeting?
- A: No. Some churches charge a fee for the workshops, or for additional services that might be provided before or after a network meeting. There is no charge to attend the meeting itself.
- Q: Is Crossroads for people whose career search leads them toward self-employment or entrepreneurship?
- A: There are a number of articles and resources on our website that address self-employment or starting a business of your own. CareerTIP.net is another resource that has a series of tips and links just on starting your own business.
